CRANIAL PROSTHESES
THROUGH 3D PRINTING
Reconstruction of skull in patients with cranial traumatism, the objetcive is to cover the damaged part of the skull by implanting a personalized prosthesis.
This project originated from the necessity of creating a low cost prostheses to benefit patients from the University Hospital.
THE PROCESS
We developed a process to design and produce the prostheses using CAD software and 3D Printers.
Results
Cost reduction compared with existing titanium Implants
Better aesthetic results
Reduction of surgical procedure time
Less risk of infections after surgery
* All these results are a comparison between comercial titanium implants and PMMA implants developed by our process.
